100 up!

Posting today will be delayed until early evening. It is my Mother's birthday and she has reached a century of life in a country that has now become but a shadow of what it once was.

One very proud son will therefore be enjoying himself in the company of 'the best Mum in the world'!

See y'all later............

Afterthought: All outstanding comments - and there are a quite a few - I will reply to this evening.....

To all commenters, many many thanks for your good wishes. Unfortunately, there are not many people who can boast of a parent reaching 100 - and yes it does fill one with pride.

One small point: Centurians no longer receive a telegram, it is a birthday card with a picture of Liz on the front. She also received what was termed a 'telegram', in its own 'presentational' folder, from Iain Duncan Smith.

The card and envelope with the royal seal will both be treasured by me for the rest of my days.

I trust she has received the Queen's congratulations - or have those been cut to save money as well?

Congratulations to your mother, a very fortunate lady to have reached such a venerable age.

QE2: Thank you. I believe she did.

TGM: Thanks to you too - also see reply above re ER's greetings.
