Totalitarianism it is then!

Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, Daily Telegraph, reports on the latest ruling from the European Court of Justice:
"The European Court of Justice ruled yesterday that the European Union can lawfully suppress political criticism of its institutions and of leading figures, sweeping aside English Common Law and 50 years of European precedents on civil liberties."
and continues:
"The ruling stated that the commission could restrict dissent in order to  "protect the rights of others  " and punish individuals who   "damaged the institution's image and reputation  ". The case has wider implications for free speech that could extend to EU citizens who do not work for the Brussels bureaucracy."
So fellow-anti-eu-bloggers, on the assumption that we are all of one mind, see you all in the EU version of a gulag then? Or will the revolution have happened before that?

Pssst WfW, it was Evans-Pritchard.

I better pack my striped jim-jams then - it always comes down to this, doesn't it.

Punishing the people to protect the people.

They never learn.

BJ: Oops - better change it then - *ahem* so used to BW being the only one who tells the truth and thus talks sense!

Other than Christopher Booker of course!

What's going on today? You're the second person to link to that 2001 article.

GV: Got picked up on a comment you made on a post of yours to which I linked on this subject and was asked where in the Lisbon Treaty it said that......

Hopefully it will answer the commenters question!

My post about insulting the flag and eurocrats? I also linked to court proceedings against a man who had 'insulted' Sarkozy - still awaiting the outcome of that one. Anyway, your commenter should have picked me up on it, not you. Thanks for the link :-)

Oh good, all the unelected EU bureaucrats and commissioners are in serious trouble. Ashton will be seriously crapping herself.

Sometimes I wonder that supposedly sane, well read men (and wimmin) can sit and debate and write such things with the burden of history on their shoulders and think it is OK to do so.

Then I realise they are not men & wimmin, they are another species entirely, they share no empathy with mankind, no common values, no sense of history (as it is not theirs) we are not THEIR kind, merely chattels.

They are now confident enough in their power now to come out openly. You can see it in the smug looks, the condescension ( The AV vote proclaiming we were too dumb ot understand it, did Homo Sapiens say the same about Homo Neanderthal )

Plus they only mate with their own kind, look at the Kinnocks produced one of the finest Eurocrats, went straight to Brussels without passing go. All the current H&W teams in the current 650 shower of shits. How many more in the EU Parliament.

They have become a race apart, mankind is once again divided into two species and unless we want to go the way of the Neanderthals some thing's got to change.

They are no longer US, they are THEM

Sadly, it was expected.

Let's hope the Greeks default on their debt and bring the sorry institution to its knees!

The consequences to the UK will be a price worth paying!

Law is wonderful but impotent. Judges have voices but no arms or legs. If they cannot enforce Judgments they are windbags only.

It is when Enforcement fails that Judges become irrelevant.
